Most people think that senior rescue dogs are hard to deal with because of their age. However, they’re actually easier to deal with than puppies. They’re don’t have that puppy energy that can be quite exhausting to deal with, and they’re often very laid back.
A rescue pit bull named Grandma Poe was dumped by her family in animal control. Grandma Poe’s photo was posted on the internet and was eventually seen by a woman named Jill Paukstis. Despite having such sad eyes, Grandma Poe had such an adorable smile on her face.
Little is known about Grandma Poe’s past, but when Jill tried to pet her, Grandma Poe would flinch as if she was expecting to get hurt. This broke Jill’s heart, and she decided to foster Grandma Poe. Initially, Jill thought that Grandma Poe would be a hard foster because she’s had such a horrible past that it’ll be hard for her to trust humans again.
However, Grandma Poe proved to be quite a loving dog who is willing to love and be loved again. Grandma Poe could hardly walk, and she initially was very bad at interacting as a normal dog would. Thankfully, Jill had two other dogs named Finn and Penny that are younger than Grandma Poe. Through Finn and Penny, Grandma Poe learned to play with toys, and she realized that she’s in a safe place with a loving mom.
Grandma Poe knows how to be a dog again, and she’s acting like a young dog who’s trying to catch up with lost time. Grandma Poe loves her life now, and she gets to spend a lot of time playing with other dogs. Instead of sad eyes, Grandma Poe is now very happy thanks to a loving new family.
Grandma Poe is also very maternal. She loves to bathe her doggie siblings, Penny and Finn, before they go out. Although Grandma Poe doesn’t play as much as the younger dogs, she still has a lot of fun hanging out with the other dogs in daycare. Here’s a heartwarming video showing Grandma Poe’s life and her beautiful smile that got her adopted.
