Many of us loved skateboarding growing up. It’s an exciting activity that gives us a sense of freedom every time we blaze through the streets on that piece of wood on wheels. Fun as it may be, there is danger involved with the activity. That is why it’s advisable for kids to wear protective gear when skateboarding.
But despite the dangers presented by this extreme sport, it’s one that transcends many boundaries. There are even some dogs who like skateboarding, and one of them set a new world record back in 2015. This pup is Otto, the English bulldog. This burly pup is the fur baby of Robert Rickards and Luciana Viale.
Otto’s humans are, of course, avid fans of the extreme sport, and that’s how this cute pup learned how to ride. The English bulldog has become a well-known figure among the local skateboarding community in Lima, Peru. Soon after he learned how to ride, his fame went beyond the skateboarding scene.
He is also popular with the surfers in their country as he also hits the waves on a surfboard whenever they are at the beach. But mainly, skateboarding is the pup’s main hobby. He became so famous that he even featured in several TV shows in Peru. But the icing on the cake for Otto is when he made it into the Guinness Book of Records.
Otto has proved to his parents that skating has now become second nature to him. So much so that they decided to break the world record for the longest human tunnel ride done by a dog. If you aren’t familiar with this, it’s when people stand in line and open their legs apart while the skater passes through.
The number to beat was thirty people. It looked like a daunting task, but Otto showed the world that it was just a piece of cake for him. He blazed through the tunnel like it wasn’t even there. He knew when to push with his legs and how to steer the skateboard left and right. After the incredible feat, he was rewarded with a plaque by a representative from Guinness that made the record official.
