The quadruple amputee and sweet pooch, Chi Chi, who inspired many people across the globe has died of cancer, her family announced. Chi Chi became part of Elizabeth Howell’s family a few years ago after she arrived in Phoenix, Arizona. She was found in a garbage can in South Korea, with her legs severely infected and tied together with wire.
The butcher must have thought that Chi Chi’s meat was no longer acceptable, so they left her to die. That’s when she was rescued. All of Chi Chi’s four paws needed to be amputated for her to be saved.
Elizabeth Howell from Arizona saw Chi Chi’s video online. She adopted Chi Chi and created an account in GoFundMe. The proceeds were used to pay for her prosthetic limbs. This enabled her to walk using four prosthetics.
Despite her own struggles, Chi Chi worked as a therapy dog in hospitals and schools where she became a personal favorite of her fellow amputees. She also became an online celebrity, who has thousands of followers. She was a source of inspiration to many.
Sadly, her owner saw a mole near her tail which alarmed her vet. Chi Chi underwent some tests and procedures for it to be removed. They learned that it’s a mast cell tumor. The Howell family was devastated to learn about Chi Chi’s cancer.
